Forty-five seconds floating in the universe

I recently had the privilege to visit The Broad in Los Angeles and, after an entry line, ticketing line, and line outside the installation, stand in one of Yayoi Kusama’s most ethereal pieces. I also had the good fortune to meet a gal named Rafif, and we quickly were laughing, exchanging phone numbers, and agreeing to wait in all three lines together. Infinity Mirrored Room - The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away itself was small—some mirrors and LED lights (that flashed, remained still, and sometimes totally blacked out) and an elevated platform surrounded by water. The effect was incredible. In a matter of moments, I was quickly whisked into a feeling of floating in the universe.

Experiences

1 - Simultaneously reminded both of my smallness and infinitude.

2 - Vague existential questions about different dimensions arose by seeing so many reflections (i.e. How many of me are there? How many worlds? Realities?)

3 - Sense of beauty. The room itself was stunning, and inescapably seeing oneself reflected many times among these lights felt empowering and beautiful.

4 - Loss of sense of time. The forty five seconds was devastatingly short, but while I was in the room I could not perceive how many seconds had passed.

5 - Immediate meditation. If meditation is seeking a sense of oneness with a universal source, being thrust into a universe-esque space jumpstarted this pathway. After the initial shock, I felt both out-of-body and deeply calm.
